Buying Acer Aspire AS1410-2285 11.6-Inch Black Laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium)
 I
needed a laptop primarily for web-browsing, writing documents while
traveling (on the train etc), some low-end engineering work (using
Matlab), and to hook up to a projector to give presentations. For all
of those purposes, this laptop has been perfect. I have access to more
powerful desktop workstations for 3D CAD and more computationally
expensive simulations etc. so did not need a super-fast processor or
lots of RAM on the laptop. I know the 10.1" netbooks are extremely
popular right now if you just need a computer for web browsing and
basic document editing, and they run about $300. I was willing to spend
the extra $100 for this model because (a) I hate the tiny keyboards on
10.1" netbooks and wanted a full-size keyboard and (b) I really like
Windows 7 and it seems like all the 10.1" netbooks are running XP or
the really watered-down starter version of 7. Only downside was like
with any PC manufacturer, the Acer pre-load of Windows 7 was loaded
with crapware. I can get a free OEM version of Windows 7 from work so I
re-installed that with dual-boot to Ubuntu (as I stated, I like Windows
7 but there are some things I still prefer to do in Linux) and
everything works great. Only minor glitch was that doing this somehow
got rid of the driver for the wireless card so I had to re-download
that when I was on a hardwire connection. All the other drivers (webcam
etc) remained in place. Especially considering the price, this
is an excellent laptop for the needs stated above. I have friends at
work with $1,400 Macbooks that use their computers for exactly the same
things, and for the life of me cannot understand how it's worth paying
an extra THOUSAND DOLLARS if all you're going to do is check your
email...but that debate will probably never be resolved. Buy Acer Aspire AS1410 2285 11.6 Inch Black Laptop Lowest Price, Order Now! [Click Here!]Relate ProductsHP G60 630US, Asus UL80Vt A1, Dell Inspiron 1545 15.6 Inch Jet Black Laptop, HP Pavilion DV6 1354US,

@Buying Acer Aspire Timeline AS5810TZ-4274 15.6-Inch Laptop - 8+ Hours Battery Life
 I've
had my Acer Aspire 5810TZ (Timeline Series) for about 2-3 months now.
Honestly, I was on a budget so I couldn't go for an XPS or a Vaio.
Ultimately, I love almost EVERYTHING about this laptop. I know it's
been outside of its box not too long ago but so far it's been great!
The only downside is that the keyboard is a DUST MAGNET! Everything
else is solid; only the optic drive and the chicklet-style keyboard
seems a bit flimsy. Hardware-wise, it's amazing! It's basic but
powerful enough to run quake 3 engine games as well as multiple
programs at once. I'm also a photographer and I should be using a
Macbook Pro (as everyone says -______-) but I can do photo-editing
(Lightroom and/or Ps) that's just as slick and lag-free on my 5810TZ. But
the deal-breaker for me was the fact that it's EXTREMELY SLIM (5.3lbs =
portability) and its VERY handsome :) I love the fact that it has FOUR
USB ports..a HUGE plus for me! The Orange/Blue LED behind the touchpad
(right above the card reader) finishes the whole sleek, sexy look of
the 5810TZ. As well as the other features such as 8+ hours (I use
graphic-heavy software so I usually get around 5-6 but that doesn't
matter because I rarely leave my place without its charger), 16:9 LED
screen = FULL SCREEN MOVIES and bright graphics..could be sharper
though, and Thermal-Cooling (ONE OF THE COOLEST FEATURES I'VE EVER
SEEN!)..The laptop is NEVER hot. The bottom is a tad bit warm at its
max but never hot. And the cool thing is you can FEEL it working..you
can FEEL the warmer air being fanned out of the vents on the sides..a
beautiful thing :) Overall..I love this laptop. There was
nothing better than this in the Micro Center in Rockville, MD for $500.
Well..there was a Toshiba and an HP with better specs/hardware for $500
but they were fat, ugly, and heavy. Portability was of utmost
importance to me so call me crazy but at least I don't strain/complain
when I carry mine around >=P and people ask me about it all the
time..asking me if this really was an Acer because it's so sleek and
well-built! Good luck on your laptop shopping though! Just wanted you
guys to know that I haven't regretted mine yet (knock on wood) and that
as of now I think I'm pretty far from it :) Word of advice: A
lot of reviewers like/tend to be more critical than necessary. For
example, people say that this computer is just downright slow. False.
Pentium processors used to be the pinnacle technological advancement
until duo cores came about. Don't lower the expectations of others just
because you want the best knowing all too well that it's more than
enough to get the job done SO IT WILL get the job done. As long as you
don't fill the the laptop with junk and scan it every now and then
you'll be perfectly content. Now unless you're a gamer..you've heard
the others: this isn't a gaming platform. I couldn't play America's
Army at all! Call of duty (the first one) was SUPERB! Halo: Combat
Evolved was good, not great. Soo..just a word of advice haha. Buy Acer Aspire Timeline AS5810TZ 4274 15.6 Inch Laptop Lowest Price, Order Now! [Click Here!]Relate ProductsToshiba L505 S5993 Laptop, HP Pavilion DV6 1350US Espresso Laptop, HP Pavilion DM3 1030US Sale, acer aspire as1410 2285,

@Buying ASUS UL30A-X5 Thin And Light 13.3-Inch Black Laptop - 12 Hours Of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium)
 I
REALLY wanted to like this computer after having a piece of garbage
Gateway laptop that died after 13 months. I've had it for about 3 weeks
now, but this notebook is not as advertised. "12 Hours of Battery Life?
Sure, if you don't turn it on, the battery will last 12 hours,
otherwise you would be lucky to get 6 hours out of it. Of course that's
better than most other notebooks, BUT IT IS NOT 12 HOURS as it so
prominently says on the Amazon.com website. I'm thinking about
contacting the FTC with a complaint over this - it is just not right to
flat-out lie about the battery life. Then there is the matter of the
accidental damage warranty. I mailed in the "ASUS Accidental Damage
Warranty (ADW) Registration Card" to the address on the card - it was
returned to me 2 weeks later by the post office with a yellow sticker
on it "FORWARD TIME EXP RTN TO SEND: ASUS COMP INTL - NOTEBOOK WARRANTY
800 FREMONT CA 94539-6105". Not only did ASUS move and fail to include
the new address on the warranty card for a brand-new (and
newly-released) computer, they also failed to re-new their forwarding
address with the post office. So I tried to register it online, and
apparently succeeded as the ASUS website told me to print out the
confirmation that I would receive soon by email and mail it along with
my warranty card. 4 days later and I still have not received this
registration email. I tried to register it again online, this time
signing up as a member and a VIP member by registering my notebook with
ASUS, but first it asked me for a "Contract Code" and "Password" that
are supposedly on the warranty card (they are not), and now the website
tells me that my computer is not eligible for the accidental damage
warranty and that I need to contact the retailer to BUY the extra
protection. ASUS is either providing false information on their and
Amazon's website, or on the product description and warranty card that
came with my notebook - both clearly say that this computer is eligible
for the one-year accidental damage warranty. I have no idea whether
their online customer service is ever open and it is definitely not
today since it's Saturday, but I'm so disgusted with the notebook and
the extremely poor/impossible warranty registration procedure that I'm
just giving up. If the notebook was exactly what Amazon and ASUS
say that it is, I would be first in line to give it 5-stars and a
glowing review, but it is not. I feel like I've been cheated, and the
impossible registration procedure along with the not-as-advertised
battery life prompted me to write this review. If I had it to do all
over again, I would look elsewhere for a notebook computer. Buy UL30A X5 Light 13 3 Inch Black Laptop Lowest Price, Order Now! [Click Here!]Relate ProductsToshiba L505 S5993 Laptop, HP Pavilion DV6 1350US Espresso Laptop, HP Pavilion DM3 1030US Sale, acer aspire as1410 2285,

@Buying HP Pavilion DV6-1350US 15.6-Inch Espresso Laptop - Up To 8 Hours Of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium)
 If
you are like me, you look for the best bang for your buck, while also
considering what you will use it for, how fast it will go obsolete and
total cost. For everyone but the hardcore gamer, this laptop will shine. For those people that get aggrevated at short battery life the 12-cell battery is for you. So
the 12 cell makes it stand up in the back. I wasn't sure about that at
first. I actually now prefer it after a few days of use. The
battery adds weight and limits ulta-portability, but you can always buy
a 6-cell to make it more portable, although I don't see the problem
with a couple extra pounds. This has the T6600 Core 2 Duo of the
new 4 GB of DDR3 memory. Also, this particular laptop is upgradeable to
8 GB of DDR3, so you might be able to get an additional year of good
use out of the laptop with an upgrade in a couple years. I was
looking at a lot of laptops and this is the only one in this price
range with a 7200 RPM hard drive. It might be a little smaller, but it
is going to be faster than the 5400 hard drives in most of the laptops
in this range. 320 GB is more than enough for most, unless you store a
lot of video, in which case you probably already have a large external
drive. This laptop also has wireless N. While that is nice, it
is only a selling point for some users. It is useful if you have
multiple computers on the wireless network or stream a lot of video
(see below), but the bandwidth you pay for from your ISP is usually the
limiting factor. There is only one computer on my wireless so I
chose not to upgrade my wireless router. I was able to stream the
high-quality hulu from my laptop to my TV without a hiccup over
wireless G. The biggest con about this laptop is that it is an
extreme finger-print attractor. HP provides a cloth and it looks good,
so tough to really complain. The other weird thing I noticed was
that the laptop will exit full-screen mode when you adjust the volume
using the laptop's touch controls. Could be the on-screen laptop volume
software, Hulu, Firefox or even Windows 7. There is a minimal amount of bloatware installed. Good job by HP not falling into the Dell trap. The
combo of the T6600 Core 2 Duo, 4 GB of DDR3, 12-cell battery, 7200 RPM
hard-drive typically is going to cost you somewhere near the list price
of this laptop, but thanks to Amazon, you can score it for up to 3
bills less. Buy HP Pavilion DV6 1350US Espresso Laptop Lowest Price, Order Now! [Click Here!]Relate ProductsToshiba L505 S5993 Laptop, HP Pavilion DV6 1350US Espresso Laptop, HP Pavilion DM3 1030US Sale, acer aspire as1410 2285

@Buying Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - Up To 8 Hours Of Battery Life
 My
wife wanted a pink computer for her birthday... pink pink pink! It had
to be pink! The only interest in computers for her is surfing the web,
her emails and managing her pictures. So, it was up to me to find her a
decent computer that was pink. I found this and it had good reviews and
was in my price range, so this was the one... in pink of course. She
has a pink wireless mouse, pink headphones, and a pink flash drive. She
is set! It has been very user friendly for her and she has been
very happy with it. I was a little shy about not having a disc drive,
but she didn't care and I was able to get the essential software on it
using my laptops drive. I was suprised at how big the keyboard actually
is. It fits her girl-hands just fine. She uses it everyday and loves it. Buy Samsung NC10 14GB 10.2 Inch Blue Netbook Price Lowest Price, Order Now! [Click Here!]Relate ProductsToshiba L505 S5993 Laptop, HP Pavilion DV6 1350US Espresso Laptop, HP Pavilion DM3 1030US Sale, acer aspire as1410 2285,

Buying Acer Aspire One AOD150-1920 10.1-Inch Ruby Red Netbook - 6.5 Hour Battery Life
 I
bought the acer laptop once we changed to Verizon and FINALLY got DSL.
My old desktop (which has all my software on it and I know like the
back of my hand and is, like, 10 years old and working great so I'm NOT
replacing it)for some reason just refused to load the verizon dsl
software /router thingie despite 4, count 'em 4 hours on the phone with
tech support, stumping even the tech's in India. So after years of dial
up I was still unable to get dsl on my old computer. Sigh. So what the
heck. Spend $300 and voila. Portable internet. It's a bit of a hassel,
but I've found flash drive a big help to send files I create on my big
computer (artist, designer) and I love watching tv and checking email
on the sofa, working on my blog, etc. The tiny screen and keyboard take
some getting used to, and I had trouble with my "m" key...it completely
stuck..and in my effort to "fix" it came completely off, so now I just
have to touch the naked little M nipple to type M. it could be fixed
but shipping to service center is 1/4 the price of the computer, so I
just make do. I'm definately getting my money's worth out of it! I'd
like to consolidate my acer and my old geizer to a snazzy new laptop
with a big ole screen at some point when I can afford it, meanwhile,
this little fella is serving me very well. Worth the $ for sure. A real
treat to take it on a trip recently and check email on the road. NO I
don't have a blackberry like 99% of the rest of the world. Leave me
alone about it. I'll catch up to technology one of these days. I just
got DSL for cryin' out loud. Gimme a break. Buy Acer AOD150 1920 10.1 Inch Red Netbook Lowest Price, Order Now! [Click Here!]Relate ProductsHP Pavilion DM3 1030US Sale, acer aspire as1410 2285, k50ij bestbuy, asus ul30a x5 discount review,

Buying Asus K50IJ-C1 15.6 Inch Laptop - Black
 I
picked this box up for my inlaws to replace an aging desktop setup they
had. I wasn't expecting much, but to be honest, I'm starting to think
hard about picking one of these up for myself. It's dead
silent, even under load, and the battery lasts far, far longer than the
"2hours 30minutes" that it displayed for four hours off power. Built in
webcam is sharp and follows motion well and the screen is bright and
sharp as well. The multi-touch touch pad takes a bit to get used to,
but it's not a problem. A few things that are a bit annoying: * All the ports are on the sides of the laptop, meaning that you'll have lots of wires sticking out. * Make sure to disable the "fancy startup" program, since it overrides things like selected backgrounds and menubar setups. * the slick cover is a fingerprint magnet. Those issues aside, it's very light and nicely responsive. Buy Asus K50IJ C1 Lowest Price, Order Now!
